OSUMUN 2027
Ohio's Premier High School Conference
April 9-11, 2027 • The Ohio State University
Letter From the Secretary-General

Hi everyone! My name is Connor Kleinman, and I am a 3rd-year from the distant land of Lower Merion (a suburb of Philadelphia), Pennsylvania. I am so excited to welcome each and every one of you to OSUMUN 2027 as your Secretary General! I am double majoring in Political Science and History, with a minor in Public Policy. I enjoy playing frisbee, going to sports events, and trying new foods. If you find me on campus, it may be at the MedditeraneYum food truck (I am known by name), studying at 18th Avenue Library, or in Derby Hall at a CCWA or Model UN meeting. I first experienced Model UN (or “MUN”) in 8th grade. I love getting into character and competing as a crisis delegate on the collegiate circuit. I have CD’d two committees for OSUMUN, Death of Stalin at OSUMUN 2025 and 1914: Diplomats of the July Crisis at OSUMUN 2026. Our OSUMUN conference is without a doubt a highlight of my year, and (from what I have seen at other collegiate and high school conferences as both a delegate and a staffer) the best run conference I have seen. This would not be possible without our team’s major expansion over the past three years, which has resulted in record-high numbers of staffers who can ensure the best possible experience for delegates and their advisors. I am so grateful to be a part of this growth, and I am so excited to show you all what OSUMUN 2027 has to offer this year!
I have traveled to Boston, Knoxville, Charlottesville, Chapel Hill, and more with our travel team, where I am usually a crisis delegate (with an emphasis on historical joint crisis committees in particular). Model UN has not only brought me the ability to travel across the country, but also many of my closest friends both at Ohio State and other universities we meet. I also am lucky enough to be President of the organization that combines many of Ohio States’ leading international affairs clubs, the Collegiate Council on World Affairs (CCWA). Through this organization, I have tested my international affairs skills in jeopardy, and listened to prominent speakers on global affairs topics spanning elections in Hybrid Democracies to climate change. International affairs for me, as a first-generation American means the ability of my own existence. I was born as a result of complex systems of immigration and global diplomacy, with my parents coming from two different nations, ethnicities, and religions. International affairs also means diplomacy and spirited, passionate debate, which Model UN creates and which OSUMUN 2027 is excited to provide to you (including by introducing a brand new concept of committee to be revealed later this year)!
Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, regarding logistics or team preparation. Ohio State is prepared to support the many high schools who are new to Model UN, as well as those who routinely compete across the country. This is a conference for all delegates of all experience levels, and we are so excited to welcome you to OSUMUN 2027. See you on April 9th!
Good luck,
Connor Kleinman,
Secretary General of OSUMUN 2027
Letter From the Director-General
Dear Delegates and Advisors,
I am thrilled to welcome each of you to OSUMUN 2027! My name is Paarth Gupta, and I am honored to serve as your Director-General. I am a sophomore Political Science and Economics double-major here at the Ohio State University, with minors in Law and Public Policy and Spanish. After I graduate, I hope to go to law school and pursue a career in administrative law. My hobbies include playing the saxophone , playing tennis and pickleball, and reading. Outside the classroom, you’ll probably find me working at one of our dining halls, Traditions at Scott, at the gym, or at the 18th Avenue
Library cramming for an exam I forgot about until the day before.
I have participated in Model U.N. since my sophomore year of high school, when I was asked by some friends to attend one of my high school team’s meetings. Since then, I have had the opportunity to travel to New York City, the University of Michigan, Washington, D.C., the University of Indiana, and Chicago for conferences, both at the high-school and collegiate levels. The skills and experiences I have gained from these conferences are ones I rely on daily, from public speaking and leadership to collaboration and creative writing. We host OSUMUN each spring with the goal of providing that experience to each and every delegate that attends, and we hope that everyone is able to learn something new about the world and about themselves from debating and collaborating with the delegates around them. I have attended OSUMUN three times as a delegate in high school, and I was previously the Director of Finance and Philanthropy and the Chair of God or Gods: The Final Christianization for OSUMUN 2026, and I can personally attest to the one-of-a-kind experience that our staff provide for schools and advisors.
This year’s conference will feature a diverse range of committees with a brand-new concept for four of our crisis committees! I can’t wait to welcome all of you to OSU’s campus on Friday, April 9th, and open debate for OSUMUN 2027! If you have any questions about the conference, please do not hesitate to contact me or Connor!
Warm regards,
Paarth Gupta
